Sumidero Canyon

A magnificent view at the entrance of the Canyon

Sumidero Canyon is an awe inspiring canyon whose dramatic cliffs of up to one kilometer high and the river's depth of up to 100 meters deep dwarf anything in its presence. We took a boat ride along part of the canyon which was most enjoyable. Wild monkeys and iguana inhabit the area. One of the main attraction is a Christmas Tree falls. It was fantastic. The waterfall consists of unusual rock tiers which were covered in green ground cover which looked like think moss, with purple flowers. During the wet season when the rain fall is heavy, the fall's water looks like snow falling from the bows of a Christmas tree. Your experience will take your breath away for aproximately two hours while ridding on local boats.

If you wish to enhance your experience you can visit the Eco-Park which is situated in the heart of the Canyon, the park is a small jungle surrounded by the high canyon walls. Its paths wind through areas where one has access to the native flora and fauna. There are also opportunities for various activities in this imposing setting.
